Liberia Police Dismisses and Suspends Officers Over Corruption and Misconduct
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has disciplined three officers after its Professional Standards Division investigated allegations of corruption, abuse of authority, and neglect of duty.
The investigation followed an incident on January 17, 2025, in Bong County, where Inspector General Gregory O.W. Coleman witnessed highway patrol officers soliciting bribes and harassing drivers.
Sgt. Musa V. Sheriff, the team leader of the patrol unit (ID #2248), was dismissed for corruption, neglect of duty, and misconduct in violation of the LNP’s professional standards.
Patrol Officer Julius Reeves (ID #1733) was suspended without pay for four months for misconduct and neglect of duty, while Patrol Officer Erasmus K. Jallah (ID #6613) received a three-month unpaid suspension for similar offenses.
The officers were ordered to return all government-issued property, including uniforms, belts, and badges, to the LNP's Human Resources Division.
Additionally, LRD 36,000 seized from the officers as bribe money has been deposited into government accounts at the Central Bank of Liberia.
The LNP reiterated its commitment to enforcing high standards of accountability and professionalism, emphasizing that such measures are crucial to maintaining public trust in law enforcement.
