Senator Prince Y. Johnson has emphasized that President George Weah's failure to nominate sons and daughters from the county to high posts in government has brought an end to the political union between the Coalition for Democratic Change and the residents of Nimba.

In the general and presidential elections of 2017, Senator Johnson ran for office. However, after failing to make it into the run-off election, Senator Johnson announced his support for the CDC-led administration.

As a result of Senator Johnson's backing, President Weah received a resounding majority of the vote in Nimba County, giving the CDC the advantage.

According to a statement from Senator Johnson, Nimbanians signed a commitment with the Congress for Democratic Change in November 2017 to support the party politically.

He claimed that the deal called for the citizens of Nimba County to be elected to important ministerial positions, manage companies, serve as ambassadors, and occupy other top positions.

"We have yet to see sons and daughters from our beloved Nimba County in those top senior posts we agreed upon and signed a document as evidence," he claimed. "Since the CDC lead government came to power in 2018 we are yet to see sons and daughters from those positions."

The release stated, "The citizens of Nimba have been knocking at my door for the president to appoint them for the past five years. We have used all diplomatic means and have engaged this CDC-led government consistently, but nothing is working to get redress and make our people who struggled during the campaign period happy.

"Once again, my dear inhabitants of Nimba and supporters in Liberia and throughout the World, we like to take this time to inform you that the deal we struck with the CDC has come to an end," the statement continued.

He continued by saying that his position is in the best interests of the residents of Nimba and all MDR Political Party supporters.

The announcement added, "We are therefore compelled to make this proclamation that we are "HALTING OUR POLITICAL SUPPORT" to the Coalition.
