In the upcoming 2023 general and presidential elections, thousands of disgruntled partisans and supporters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have threatened to ensure that their Standard Bearer President George Manneh Weah is not re-elected for allegedly crushing their hopes and aspirations, failing to improve their living conditions, and failing to comprehensively combat corruption in his government.
The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), the Liberian People Democratic Party (LPDP), and the once in power National Patriotic Party make up the CDC (NPP).

The National Disenchanted CDCians Movement, which represents disgruntled partisans and supporters of the CDC, claimed that the government and Standard Bearer have failed to fulfill promises made to them in 2017 in a statement released in Monrovia on Thursday, October, under the signature of their Chairman Invester Kanneh.
"A prosperous and unified nation where state resources could be utilised for the benefit of both the rich and the needy was promised to us. We were promised a government that would fight corruption and would make Liberians active participants in the affairs of their nation rather than mere bystanders.

Fellow LIBERIANS, we feel compelled to express our dissatisfaction with the CDC-led administration at this time. Sad to realize that we are the victims of our own revolution.
In order to warn party officials to make sure that the government "we brought to power operates according to our promises to the Liberian people," the group stressed that their unhappiness in the current administration follows multiple unsuccessful interactions with party leaders.

Figures of ridicule

"Our own government has reduced us to laughingstocks. In many circles, CDCIANS are currently viewed as "market dogs." Most of us don't have enough money to pay for our own food or to take care of our own families, let alone pay party dues.

They continued by saying that the "cronies and relatives' syndrome," which is akin to the "cartel" that ruled the country prior to their united battle to elect it, has now gained control of the government.
The disgruntled partisans and supporters further stated that from the start of the Weah-led administration, they have continued to experience "suppression, gossip charioting, marginalization, lack of nationalism, and internal power struggle."

Attempting to re-nominate Weah

The group emphasized that as the general and presidential elections in 2023 get closer, the party's standard bearer George Manneh Weah's supporters and partisans, who have felt abandoned and neglected, are being reached out to as part of a re-nomination program being planned to petition him to run for another term.

A while back, the CDC initiated a reconciliation initiative through its Chairman Mulbah Morlu in an effort to win over former party members, partisans, and executives who had become disillusioned.
President Weah's re-nomination process has been set for December 2022. The organization, however, is adamant that the ruling party take notice of their situation.
"President Weah has the right to run for reelection. The Disenchanted CDCians Movement, a group of devoted but betrayed CDCIANS, with more than 75,000 active members, however, denounces, rejects, and disassociates itself from the upcoming November and December 2022 WEAH 2023 Re-nomination program.
