George Kailondo, Jr., the son of well-known Liberian businessman George Kailondo, Sr., has been charged with illegally possessing a firearm, and Khalil Bongary, the owner of the firearm used by Kailondo Jr. to shoot Mohammed Kamara, has also been charged in absentia with possessing a weapon with intent to kill.

Jomah Jallah, the judge of the Monrovia City Court, claimed that the allegations against the two were violations of chapters 17.11 and 14.23 of the Liberian Revised Penal Code.

The 28-year-old Kailondo Jr. shot Kamara last week, seriously hurting him. According to family members who spoke to FrontPageAfrica, Kamara is now receiving medical attention at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia.

Kailondo Jr., who has allegedly been on the run since the incident on October 7 took place, showed up before the Monrovia City Court on Monday looking unconcerned with his attorney, Cllr. Alhasi Swaliho A. Sesay.

George Kailondo, Jr., you have been charged with possession and sale of physical objects for lethal purpose, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person, Judge Jallah announced as she called the court to order.

"Kialondo Jr. has the right to remain silent, the right to post a bond for criminal appearance, and the right to be represented by his own attorney.

After getting his writ, defendant Kialondo Jr. and Cllr. Sesay fled the court before the proceeding.
