MMOexp POE2: A New Era for Builds
Implications of Path of Exile 2's Skill Nerfs for Currency and Builds
The arrival of Path of Exile 2 has generated significant excitement among action RPG enthusiasts. However, the game’s launch has not been without controversy, especially after Grinding Gear Games (GGG) announced sweeping nerfs to POE2 Currency several overpowered skills. These changes were implemented to maintain balance and ensure that a variety of builds remain competitive in the game. As the early access phase progresses, players should prepare for more adjustments, with GGG emphasizing its commitment to a fun and fair experience for all.
Nerfing the Overpowered: A New Era for Builds
At launch, some skills in Path of Exile 2 were so powerful that they quickly overshadowed other builds and playstyles. This created an imbalance, as a few dominant abilities made many alternative options feel inferior. GGG swiftly took action to address these issues by rolling out nerfs aimed at the most problematic abilities, reaffirming the developer’s desire to preserve the game’s core philosophy of diversity and freedom in gameplay.
One of the first skills to be targeted was Supercharged Slam, a move capable of delivering immense damage in a short period. According to GGG, the skill was performing well beyond its intended power level, quickly becoming the go-to choice for players seeking the highest damage output. As a result, Supercharged Slam's damage was reduced by 60% at its maximum level. Additionally, GGG hinted at further tweaks to how the skill builds up charges, ensuring that it remains viable but no longer overpowered.
Another prominent skill to fall under the nerf hammer was Magnetic Salvo, which previously dealt explosive damage far exceeding its intended parameters. The damage of the explosions has been reduced by 40%, making it a less dominant option in the current meta. GGG stressed that these changes were not an attack on fun or poe2 trade creativity, but a necessary step to preserve the game's balance.
