Representative Bernard Benson, a strong supporter of Speaker Fonati Koffa, has switched sides and joined the Majority Bloc in the Montserrado County Legislature. This unexpected move has significantly boosted the Majority Bloc’s numbers, bringing them closer to their goal of removing Speaker Koffa.

Benson’s defection was a dramatic event, marked by a flag-waving entrance and a warm reception from his new colleagues. He justified his decision by claiming to act in the best interests of Liberia.

While this shift in power is a setback for Speaker Koffa, the Majority Bloc still needs to secure the support of five more representatives to achieve the necessary two-thirds majority to remove him from his position.
