Charlyne Brumskine Announces Political Interest In District #3 Grand Bassa County in Liberia

In the third district of Grand Bassa, Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine has broken her silence and announced that she will run for office in 2023 on the Collaborating Political Party (CPP) banner.

The Liberty Party, whose founding political leader Charles Brumskine is Charlyne's late father, has been embroiled in a protracted legal and political conflict. Despite Senator Nyonblee Karnga-attempts Lawrence's to have Musa Bility expelled from the party, the Supreme Court determined that Bility is the legitimate party chairman.

Due to the current political impasse, the Liberty Party has become divided. Senators Karngar-Lawrence of Grand Bassa County and Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of Monsterrado County support Joseph Boakai, the Unity Party's standard bearer, for president, while Bility, on the other hand, supports Alexander Cummings, the Alternative National Congress (ANC) candidate who was chosen as the CPP standard bearer, for president.

Prior to 2023, it remains to be seen which side of the debate Charlyne will pick.

Charlyne expressed her interest in running on the CPP-Liberty Party ticket in the Grand Bassa County District #3 election in a letter to Bility that was prepared "after conversations with immediate family, friends, and well-wishers."

According to her communication to the LP leadership, "We have decided that this is the right decision at this time after prayerful and careful consideration and lengthy deliberations with my mother, Estelle V. Brumskine, the widow of the late Brumskine, my fiancé, Mr. Charles C. Dennis, my brothers, Mr. Charles W. Brumskine and Mr. Walker P. L. Brumskine, my children, and extended members of the Brumskine family

"We are aware that fighting for the improvement of our people's lives was Cllr. Brumskine's lifelong dream. I have a similar desire, and I want to use my abilities, blessings, and resources to help the people of Grand Bassa County.

She added that in her efforts to serve her people, her various contributions to Liberia and her political, legal, and economic contributions to the party are significant enough and difficult to evaluate.

Charlyne Brumskine, a candidate for Grand Bassa District #3, announced on October 7 the introduction of a one million Liberian dollar fund for education through the Brumskine Family foundation, with the goal of empowering young Liberians and assisting underprivileged children in Grand Bassa County.
